    Clinical significance

    Clinical significance

The myc (MYC proto-oncogene) gene is located at 8q24.1 as the break point and exhibits a variety of rearrangements with partner chromosomes. c-myc rearrangements are relatively common among genetic changes observed in B-cell ALL and non-Hodgkin lymphomas (NHL).c-myc and partner chromosomes exhibit rearrangements in cases involving t(8;22)(q24.1;q11) with IGL, t(2;8)(p11.2;q24.1) with IGK, and t(8;14)(q24.1;q32) with IGH, allowing the detection of rearrangements at 8q24 in one step.
