    Clinical significance

When chromosomal abnormalities are suspected in the maternal serum test, abnormal findings in fetal ultrasound, advanced maternal age, parental history of chromosomal abnormalities, chromosomal abnormalities in previous pregnancies, or inconclusive results from chorionic villus sampling or amniocentesis, confirmation testing may be performed. Cordocentesis is typically performed after 20 weeks of pregnancy. Through chromosomal karyotype analysis, it checks for the presence of chromosomal abnormalities and traces the causes of congenital abnormalities or disorders in various conditions.
